Who said Friday the 13th was unlucky? The first set of trees are here and they look great! (Scroll down for photos.)
Trees purchased by "Community Roots" donations:
4 - 5 gallon 10 ft tall White Oak (Maryland's State Tree!)
4 - 3 gallon 5 ft tall Pignut Hickory
3 - 3 gallon 6 ft tall Persimmon
1 - 3 gallon 6 ft tall Black Gum
4 - 3 gallon 5 ft tall Eastern Redbud
All trees selected are native to the Maryland Piedmont Region and have high wildlife
value. All have either long taproots or deep lateral roots making them
suitable for slopes. They
will complement the Chestnut Oak, Sycamore, and Red Maple
seedlings planted
this past Spring, generously provided by the Jones Falls Watershed
Association.
Please see the LINKS page for native plant and forestry information.
The trees arrive from American Native Plants nursery, wrapped up so they won't dehydrate during travel.

All lined up, ready to go to their new stream side home!

The White Oak appear taller than their advertised 10 feet
It's hard to believe that much tree is growing out of a 5 gallon pot.
